Awning adjustment???

Hi everyone,


I've got a Dometic electric awning on my Avenger, and I see that the lower arms on each side of the awning are slide adjustable with locking screws. The guy never told us how to adjust the awning, and I didn't even know to ask about it... so thought I'd ask here...


What are these adjustable arms for? I've been leaving them loose since that's the way they were when we took delivery of the camper, and I've watched them while retracting or extending the awning, and they never change length...

when it is raining it is best to lower one arm and help allow the rain to run off one or the other edge whatever makes sense to you... also I lower the end that is in the direction that wind comes from to provide some protection from the wind and keep your awning from being blown up if it gets gusty... just push in the arm and lock with the nut... it is okay to leave them loose, but when tightened at various lengths you can customize the awning to your preference

search on this forum for awning brackets and legs to provide for a sturdy awning

So... you just push in on them, as in toward the camper?


I'll have to experiment with them tomorrow.

yes, or at the awning pull down to desired height and have someone else tighten the knob

when bringing in the awning they should be loose or at full extension

CAUTION: do not leave the awning deployed when leaving without an awning hold down system attached to the arms, or you may find the awning has caught an ill wind and flown over the camper tearing the support arms out of the sides...

again search awning support poles and brackets...
