Awning Arm Relacement

I have a 2018 Wolf Pack with a 21í awning. The right-hand arm assembly (drive unit) collapsed during a storm, due to rain/wind. We were busy saving other stuff (slaps forehead).

I have the replacement arm/drive assembly, but the instructions are for a full install. Not just the arm.

Do I start the replacement with the awning extended, or retraced? Does it matter, since itís a servo motor without travel limits? When I remove the current drive motor, is the awning going to extend on its own due to gravity?

Right now, itís retraced/stowed with cable ties holding the drive motor against the arm mounting rail. The scissor part had to be dismantled and removed, due to twisting. Not sure why the pictures turned sideways. Ugghhh

Thanks for your help.
