Awning noise

What could be causing our power awning to make a loud chattering and thunking type noise when retracting? No sound when extending but pulling in it is really loud.

Try a lil' WD-40 on all pivot points Wipe the cylinder shaft down with a clean cloth too.

I'm having the same problem. It is a shuttering/cluttering sound. Mine does it some on opening, but when closing, I'm concerned it isn't going to make it. I sprayed some lithium grease on it and it didn't improve.

Awning noise

The wd40 seems to have worked for us. We did all pivot points.

I'd stay away from grease for this lubrication application. It will attract dirt and grime. It seems in my case, a good cleaning of all the hinge parts, apply the WD40 as indicated previously, and a little silicone applied on the polished part of the pistons (wipe clean after spraying), allows them to actuate better as they age.

have you loosened the knobs that are used to tighten when extended to help prevent wind blowing up? Later RJD

Mine is making the same noises... I've tried everything from WD 40 to silicone to penetrating oil and nothing has worked so far. I haven't tried wiping down the shafts on the cylinders yet.
