Awning repair

Hello from beautiful PEI, Canada. Wondering everyone’s thoughts on how I would attempt a repair on my awning ? It’s right where the awning attaches to the trailer. I’ve attempted to tape it but it came apart after the hot sun hit it.

What did you tape it with?

Many R/V awning repair tapes are made to withstand weather. Packaging tape... not so much.

Eternabond tape would work too.

I used Gorilla Brand tape which says it was good for awnings. Is there a clear eternabond tape?

Not that I'm aware of but they do make several colors including tan/brown which is maybe the color of the material at the tear.

Appears the awning has torn right where the seam with the spline cord that slides in the awning tube is. If you have someone that is handy with a sewing machine or an upholsterer near, might consider having then cut the awning and resew the spline back in right below the tear.

The good news is You'll lose a few inches of awning but would be a lot cheaper than buying a new one. The bad news is you're going to have to remove your awning to have it accomplished which is a few hour job for two people.
