Awning won't go out.

The power awning on my Rockwood won't go out. I can hear it click and feel a bump when you push the switch. Tried to assist the motor by twisting the spool but still no luck. Looking for suggestions.

Did this used to work for you? If it never worked for you, not intending to offend, but have you tried pushing the button in both directions? I never remember if up is in our out...

Also, is your battery ok? Even on shore power, a dead battery can play havoc on your 12v system.

Good luck.

Fixed problem. The motor was good. Corrosion had frozen the shaft to the outside housing. Soaked the outside cover in wd 40 and finally was able to remove. Sanded the inside of housing and applied silicone. Reassembled and it now works fine.

Bud, fyi I had that issue two times. Was ready to replace the motor and took it out of the spool. I thought while I had it out I would bench test it. Hooked it up to a 12 volt source on the bench and it worked without doing anything else to it. So I reassembled it and it worked fine for awhile. Then it happened again and I did the same thing over and it worked again. I think the motor gets out of alignment or something like that.

My Dometic 9100 awning motor stuck in the retracted position. Would make a thump when I operated the switch but that was all it would do. I took the motor off and worked it over in the shop. It had corrosion and rust all over the outside of it. I cleaned it up and took the back section of the motor apart that is held in place with the 3 allen head screws, cleaned that up real good and reseated all the electrical connections, twisted around on it some after it was all put back together and it freed itself up. Runs good now, time will tell. Better than spending $300-$400 for a replacement.

Awning motor dead

Motor isn't working on awning. Tested switch, it's good, tested motor straight to battery, nothing happened. Was going to order motor but now going to try cleaning it up like you did. If that doesn't work, how do I know the correct part number. I've seen several people talk about domestic 9100, but I don't see anything on paper work. Do I have to take motor apart first, is it labeled on the motor? I have a rockwood 8312 SS.
