Unhappy busted awning

I'm back to this forum cause you all seem to be the only ones who know anything.
Last camping trip, inserted awning (A&E weather pro 21'), no problem. This weekend hit the extend button, nothing. Solenoid clicks, have 12.8 volts.
Took it to a RV repair place, they looked at it and said we think you need a motor. That will cost you $400 or so and hope that's all it is. We need a model number which is at the end of the awning which they couldn't open so no model number.
Anyone ever have this problem and was it the motor? This is on a 2003 Forest River Georgetown, 34 foot class A. HELP!!!!!:

Do you still have the owner's pamphlet on your A&E/Dometic awning? I know that there is a way to manually retract the awning in case of a problem, so I would think you have to be able to manually open them, as well. In your manual, if you have it, you can find their customer service number, to ask them about it. I called them about the free kit available for dropping one end when raining, and got great service. Here's a link to the Weather Pro Awning Manual. Look on page 4 and you'll find instructions on how to operate the awing from a auxilliary battery. I'd try that to see if it's the motor or not as it bypasses the control unit.
