Dometic AE Awning

Just bought a 2009 Flagstaff that had the left side rail damaged by wind.....I replaced the entire left side and now have this question....where the awning (spring) mount attaches to the top of the left side much spring tention do I want when bolting it to the rail? Hope this makes sense, if not IO will explain better.
