OK, I need a part number for that closer. My shock/closer is destroying my door and I am out of warranty.

Any help is appreciated. Lou

Lou, i see you are from PA. I deal with Reicharts Camping Center in Hanover PA. You can call them and maybe they can help you, Here is the phone # 1-800-521-5631. They may be able to give you apart number.

Update

The closer is still destroying my door. It is now twisted so far out of plumb that the dead bolt does not work. It says it is a 20 PSI closer. Is that the correct part for my door?

With some google searching you should be able to find an adjustable lighter duty that will work. Here is one I found in a few minutes poking around that might be adaptable - Wholesale High Quality Door Closer for Cabinet

min qty of 10 sucks but with some more looking you might have some luck.

Thanks for the reply Rick. I think I am going to try and adapt a screen door shock spring and a hold back clip. The piston is a bust IMO.

Lou, i will check with a few of our lock and door hardwear suppliers tomorrow and give them the info on your door closure and see what they come up with.

I don't have one on my camper and i didn't realize it was mounted on the out side. Door closures should be on the inside to where it pulls the door closed, not push it closed and if there is no place to put it on the inside, then i would remove it altogether because of your issue.

This is not a closer. It is a "hold opener"

When you unlock the door the piston literally pulls the door from your hand and flings it open and holds the door at 90 degrees to the camper.

You need to overcome the piston to close it.

Ok, i understand, well i guess one has to be careful if some one comes to your door and you open it, they could get hit with the door if it slips out of your hand. That's a safe feature.

Are you looking to find a replacment that does the same thing but with less force or something all together different?
