before drilling into side, I just tested mine to see how it worked. then I Used a double sided tape instead of screwing into side of 5er. so far it is great.

Door rubs on awning

Same issue on an old RV I had for 9 years,had the little plastic wheel on top of the door and worked fine all those years with no damage to the awning.

Tilt the awning in the opposite direction.

I don't think everyone with an issue are tilted.
