Electric Awning

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if it is possible to retract an electric awning if you did not have any battery power or electricity?My electric awning seems really slow sometimes when I am retracting it so i was wondering about this...What would I do if it would not retract electricly???

Thank you so much for this info....I even went to the Dealer where I purchased my travel trailer with this question and they could not answer it for me...Although I did not get one of those pull straps,which the manual said was provided.I will have to try and get one somewhere!!!!

Wow, that's so much easier than the instructions given in the Dometic/AE manual supplied with my unit. Those instructions actually suggest that you make up a matching power pigtail, and power the awning closed using an auxiliary 12v power source.

If your awning is rolling up slowly, you can adjust it by taking it out of the arm and putting more preload on the roller. Mine only has one bolt on each end holding it in. You definetly need 2 people when you're doing it, at least I didn't have enough hands. and it's easier to do if the awning is part way open. If you don't have it at the right spot when you pop it out, it's going to release all of the tension when you pop it out.

thanks that was great info. I have another question, does anyone know how to get a power awning to roll up evenly? Mine rolls up tight on the front but the rear does not roll up as tight, there is a gap between the TT and the awning.

So Mightymike are you talking about taking the big roller that the awning rolls up on out?Would anyone have any info on how to do this?This sounds like a risky operation...Also my awning has a lot of wrinkles or ripples in it after it is rolled up...Is there anyway to fix this?I already had my awning replaced last year because of this but it is preety much the same again now..Guess it is something I am going to have to live with...

I must be challenged, trying to find where to put new post, I am Becky I am married to David and we just purchased a 2011 Catalina, 29RKS, we show saint bernards and it working wonderful for us, I can remove the 2 rocking chairs and put 3 full size crates for the dogs. it is great. a couple things I would change on it, ie my adult daughter is 4'11 and can not reach the bathroom light in the toilet room, but since the shower and vanity room joins it is no big deal, but a wall switch in the potty room would be smart. also just inside the door when you reach for the light, the first button is the slide, NOT good if it is dark and a new person opens door. OH well glad to be here
