Family event Climbing in the window

So I was packing up this morning from the campsite and went to open the door to our 2006 Georgetown 340. It pulled but did not open like it was locked from within. The grandkids were inside so I thought maybe they were pulling a prank however after about 15 min of them trying to unlock both the handle and deadbolt, realized it was something else. So my wife climbed out of the window, my son and I climbed in and we checked the door. I took apart the inside cover and found the plunger mechanism has cracked off and the plunger was holding it open. We used the old credit card method to open the door and wha la, it opened.

Now to replace. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good replacement? I was thinking of a Bauer electronic unit but didn't know if they were worth the extra money or if they were reliable.

Thoughts?

I piggy backed on this older thread since it had good pictures of the problem. I went with a Trimark 60-1650, the updated version of the 60-650 that seems notorious for breaking internally and leaving you helpless either inside or outside your RV. Making the lock mechanism out of pot metal (zinc alloy) is amazingly stupid of Trimark.

Even though the new lock seems pretty solid, I still am leaving a cab door unlocked on my class C when I go out with the dogs and no door key.

On my last trip my buddy locked himself out of his tt and found the only kid in the campsite that could fit thru a laundry door in one of the compartments.

I bough a combo key box,,, and mounted it near the propane tank on our Sunseeker,,,
and keep a MH door key in it !!!

I installed a Bauer keypad unit on my TT and absolutely love it. No more keys (yes, the Bauer does come with keys but not needed so far) and easy access for all campers. Plus, easy operation means campers are more likely to lock for those "oh, I'll just be a minute" times enhancing security.

BTW, got mine on Amazon as a remanufactured item for substantially less. Unfortunately, it is currently out of stock on Amazon.

Silver did a pretty cool mod to his Berkshire that may fit your needs as well. Here is a photo of his Mod. I suspect any keyless door lock will work as long as you can get the plate to fit the door and deadbolt.


Regardless if you plan on keeping your Georgetown or if you are on a Upgrade path to a new coach, a keyless door lock will add convenience & pizazz to your coach! It is one of the first mods I plan on doing to our Berk.

If the latch assembly breaks, you can have all the keys you want and you're not getting in!!!

We have the Bauer lock. Very convenient, but noticed while washing, when I sprayed it, keypad lights started blinking.
Took it apart, cleaned it, sealed it with waterproof silicone, an remounted. Take when installing, because rain can get inside to the batteries, causing corrosion.

It is there incase we somehow lock all keys in the MH !!!

Thanks for the help. Purchased the Bauer EM. Nice lock, like the backlight features. I did like the handle lock and the deadbolt on our original handle. This only has a deadbolt, but overall we are happy with the purchase.
