I have a brand new roo 21ss and have to slam the door in order to shut it. Is this normal?

Try spraying some lubricating spray in to the latch area. This should be done every couple of months.

We have the same problem on our 2012 ultralite 2304S. Seems like the latch is too close to the striker plate, but there is nothing that can be adjusted. Varies a bit depending on how level the trailer is. When we had it at the dealer for a winterizing lesson, I asked and the RV tech said, rather frustrated, that they were all like that.

Take it to your dealer and have them adjust.

I had the same problem with our rig when it was new... I sprayed in a few shots of powdered graphite and the problem is solved.
I repeated once in September.

Lube helps for a while. Screen door hanging seems to cause it too. If its the screen door hanging they are super easy to adjust with a socket, dowl rod, socket extension stuck in between the hinges on the outside of screen door and gently roling the door back. You will have to do it evenly on each hinge, a little at a time till you get it.

There is a lot of room to adjust between the jam and hinge- seen in second pic.
- if that doesn't work, a block of wood against the striker area and a little tappy tap does wonders!!

Try an old candle, rub all contact surfaces. Your reward..... No grease stains on clothing.

I had the same problem with my 2702 and the dealer adjusted it. It works perfectly now.

If you look at the bottom and top corners of the door, you'll see some plastic "bumpers" that are between the door and screen door. They make the door fit snug, but also make the door hard to close. Trim off the tip of the "bumper" and that should make the door close easier. I/we don't like slamming the door, so we hold the door handle in the open position and push the door closed and release handle and push until we hear door latch. If inside the camper we do the same except we pull the door closed, release the door handle and continue to pull until door is latched. I've heard a lot of folks "slamming" their camper doors at campgrounds, and I don't think this is normal...this is our fourth camper and the first one that the doors are hard to close. (My brother-in-law removed the striker plate to make it easier to close the door on his Open Range fifth wheel.)

I had a similar issue with my Apex. However, it turned out to be a warped door from the factory and had it replaced.

I took the latch assembly completely out of the door and then took the latch assembly apart and filed and sanded all the moving parts to remove the casting flash from them. Lubed with silicone grease any surface that had a moving part touching and reassembled. Door latches very easy now.
