Help- Awning will not fully retract.

So packing up after an extended weekend, I noticed that our awning did not seem to completely roll up tight against the rig. It stopped just shy of nesting the two arms at the top. I thought it was maybe an end switch but the fabric is taught and it looks like the roll may be a little high. It is the same on both ends. Anyone have any ideas on what may be the deal?

Mine did that but only on one end . Turned out it had somehow slipped in the track on the tube and was rolling up crooked it was a bugger to get it straight in the track but it fixed it . I put a screw in the track on both ends to keep it from happening again.

Now I'm curious, because mine is like that. I just had assumed that's the way it always is.
I need to go by an RV lot and look at new ones like mine to see.

Lol. I'm not special.
I assumed they were supposed to nest the upright bars evenly. The bottom of mine are nested (fixed support inside the moving arm) but the top is not. It is even on both sides, and the fabric rolls over the top of the drum as it should. It just seems to stick out a little at the top.

Looks like you need to slide the awning toward the rear. Extend the awning, from rear, lower arm as much as possible, grab awning near roller and pull while pushing at m forward. You should be able to slide it until it’s straight and closes properly. Then put a short screw in to hold it in place. Had to do this on my 20ft awning.

I see what you are saying because the fabric is not evenly rolled but (I believe) it is the same on both ends. Almost like the camper side is slightly narrower than the outboard side. I will double look today.

When you say "lower arm as much as possible", do you mean with the tilt adjustment?

Shifted fabric is the most common cause of what you describe.

Also check the distance between the rails that attach to the side of the R/V to be sure it is the same top to bottom. They could have been put on unparallel but it would have always been this way. Maybe you just noticed it?

Also make sure the adjustment knob for the angle/tilt is loose enough. I forgot to loosen one on another camper once and one side stuck up when retracted.
