And how does that work and do I have to climb a ladder every time I want to deploy the awning?

Just loosen the turnbuckle at the bottom and unhook from the alum strap at the top. Takes less than a minute.

If the spring breaks in the "Manual Awning" the same thing can happen going down the road! Youroo!!

I drilled out the rivet on the end of the auto dump and made an aluminum block that fits inside the arm, drilled and taped for a 3/8 thread and then used a bolt with a cross t on it instead of a hex head. I then put it Thur the slot where the river was, threaded it Thur the aluminum block and then put a locknut on top! Now it will auto dump or you can pull the awning down and lock it so it is tilted and won't hold water! Motorhome is in storage for 2 weeks and the I will prep it for our Florida trip! If anyone is interested I will take pictures when I get to Florida so you can understand my madness!
