Something tells me there is just a bit of info missing here? Like a pic of the truck that may have got a bit close to an open door..

Good ole nova scotia-----------------

Good ole Nova Scotia winter road salt!!!! The drain holes must not have been open in the bottom of the door. It would pay to caulk around the door seam to prevent this from occurring again.

Put a temp patch over the damaged part, have it replaced next August at the
2014 factory rally!

Looks like a tailgate either fell down or was left down while turning to the right.

I think you missed his big old grin and if you look carefully at the pics the door has been hit and it actually broke. The frame is bent along the bottom left edge.

Ya can't fool Old Coot. Been around the block too many times.

Now, do you think Forest River will send me a replacement. (free of charge). After all, I didn't get any of the free repairs at Goshen. Too far to travel.

Don't think road salt would bend the alum frame out and dent the foam.

The door metal is curled up. (closed hard on something inside?)

OK Terry, how did it happen? Did you forget the door was up when you departed? I have hit the camper with my rear corners on several occasions in some VERY twisty "unlevel" campground roads.

Would not take much to destroy the door if it was latched open

If the door was up, the damage would be on the inside of the door. I suspect the door was closed, tailgate down and a sharp turn executed or truck was at an angle, tailgate dropped and then truck was pulled forward to straighten out.

I must have "sleepies" in my eyes this morning. I saw the curled outward metal and still wanted to think it was a "from the inside" damage.

Now that you said that I can see how a lowered tailgate could slice into that door in a turn; pushing and curling the aluminum trim to the side.

I was about to back into my campsite and when I eyed the site, it looked as though I needed to raise one side by 1 3/4 inches. ( yes, I have a good eye for level). My piece of 2x8x6 was in the bed of the truck. I lowered the tailgate, took the 2x8x6 to the site, placed it where it needed to be and proceeded to the truck to back in. As I was backing, I turned right and heard a scrunching sound. "God*^#@" rung through the still air. The tailgate was firmly embedded in the storage door. I was not happy. Less impressed was my spotter, my darling wife. Do you know that you can get white duct tape. Covers the damage well.

And BTW, the extraction caused more damage, thus the outward bending of the metal door frame.

Rugged...having also switched from a Ram 1500 to a F250 I could have warned you that the tailgate is now a lot closer to the camper. The standard instructions for installing the hitch on the F250 places it 4" ahead of the axle centerline plus axle centerline to bumper is a little longer. When I hooked up for the first time, I was worried about clearance between the bumper and the camper...not founded. The truck has to be pretty much in line with the camper for hitching/unhitching with the tailgate down as I'm sure that you've found out.

I am really sorry to hear that. I can certainly see how that can happen.

It is one reason (the other is man handling those long boards) I use the cut down 12x12x2 pieces for the tires. Easy for an old guy like me to carry and I can just reach over the side and pick out from the milk crate what I need. I also carry 8x12x1 pieces when I don't need to lift very much.

I use my bubble level so I don't need to get out of the truck to determine how many boards, what size, and what side they go on before I get out of the truck.
