Motor issues with new awning

I just replaced my Dometic 21 awning tube and fabric. The swap was simple, put a pin in the left side, 2 screws, 2 bolts and the old one slid off. Slid the new one on, put two bolts in, pulled the pin and attempted to open and close it for adjustment. Here's where we hit the problem. It rolled up nicely, but won't extend. It clicks and jiggles when I hit the switch, but nothing else.

Any ideas?

Could this be an issue with the left side spring tension?

Just did a little more troubleshooting with the wife. I had her push the switch for the awning while I helped it open. While she pressed the button I was able to unroll the awning. If she let go of the button, the awning locked in place. If she pushed the button while t was extended, it would either slowly roll up (I think thats the switch position for extend) or almost snap closed (I believe it to be the switch position for close).

Could the left side torsion have come from the factory too tightly wound?

How can I tell if it's the motor or the spring?
