New Trailer Awning Kaput

New Cherokee 5th wheel. Have taken it out twice, the awning has separated from the trailer body.

Will this be warrantable?

Dang, that stinks. Sorry to see that happen.
Yes, it will be a warranty issue. The factory missed the studs when they mounted the awning rail.
If I was you, and you do not keep it inside or under a car port, I would silicone the screw holes on the side of the trailer to keep water out. I would also insist on a mobile RV tech to check it to make sure it is safe to drive back to the dealer with it falling off like that.
Good luck.

Contact FR for other dealers in your area, that will do the work.

That dealer's attitude is very common in the RV Industry and well known and discussed all the time on all RV forums.

You can always use an independent RV shop and long as you are OK with being reimbursed and get FR pre-approval first.

That's good to know, that I can have repairs made then be reimbursed.

We found a dealer about 60 miles away, so not too bad.

Very disappointing! Hope you can get Forest River approval and get it fixed by someone soon!

Now what if he was across country from where he bought it and the problem he had made it un-towable back to his dealer? Dealer wants to sell a brand of RV, then he should have to repair said brand regardless of where it was bought.

This kind of treatment is so WRONG.

What I do with these guys, and it's happened to us as well, is to make sure everyone who will listen knows what they said. And ask how they think their warranty work will be from that dealer when they have that kindof attitude. Just me, and I have read all the posts about why they are that way, but it's a pretty crappy way to do business. Part of it is that with selling 400 and some thousand new rv's each year they've got more business than they can handle. That's good for them, not so good for us.

This has been pretty common through the RV Industry for years, no matter the manufacturer.

Dealers have plenty of work to do with their own sold units and manufacturers can't force them to do warranty work on units they didn't sell.
They can threaten them but the dealer can just drop that manufacturer's line and pick up another.

Remember that the RV Industry has very little in common with the Automobile Industry, especially regarding warranty work.
