Plexiglass Storm Door

DW will not leave to the outer door open when I am cooking outside for any reason at all. She is a conservative and hates to waste the cold air inside. Anyway I have seen on other campers a Storm door with plexiglass instead of a screen. I have googled these many times but can't find anything. Anyone have one of these? Any idea where I can get one?

thanks.

We have done it. On two campers. You can take your screen door to a local glass shop and they will cut the plexi glass for you and install it. Or atleast the ones around here do!

Plexi glass

I just use my table saw and cut it myself
Done several times on differnt projects. One of the key issues is to use painters tape or masking tape along your line that you want to cut, and to have a nice sharp blade. jdadoug

I buy and cut myself then use double side Velcro tape to attach to screen areas, works great and we can easily remove to gain airflow in camper when not running AC.

I used a clear vinyl table cloth and cut it, to the same configuration as the door. I then used Velcro to secure it to the outside frame of the door. The nice advantage of the vinyl is , I can fold it up and store it in a drawer or closet. I would have posted a pic, but the rv is in, indoor storage for the winter.
( I hate keeping the door closed in the summer and fall )

I used my Dremel with a cutting blade for the plexiglass on our Graywolf.

Now have NEW Work & Play 25ULA and need to do the screen door there. This time I think I may need to use some flat clipe and small screws to hold in place. It has a differnt type of screen door set up than our Graywolf.

I cut all our plexiglass for our door. A top section...a middle section and a bottom section. So I can remove whatever one I want for air circulation. The bottom section has different spots with velcro so I just move the bottom section if wanted to allow a little air or a lot.

Have done this mod on our last three units. Most difficult part is cutting the arc's to fit the top of the door. On the last two I made the top section in two parts - upper ends just below the end of the arc and the bottom goes to the door center. Makes it much easier to remove and re-install the top portion - should we take it out. I used a plywood blade mounted backward in my table saw to make the straight cuts.

You can buy clear vinyl in different weights from most Wally Worlds. My 2013 Cedar Creek came with plexiglass (vinyl?) inserts.

Lowe's will cut plexiglas to your specs for free, and they have several thicknesses to choose from. We velcroed it to the bottom half of our door only, to keep the dog out of the screen. Easy to remove when you want more airflow.

I have one installed.. Mounted it over screen door Brough the door to a window shop & had them cut the plexi glass to fit the door.Used a dark color helps keep sun out. Then a trip to home depot for the mounting clips I found the clips in the hardware dept. Think they are called screen door clips. bought them white & they look real nice against the dark gray of the plexi door. OH yea..had mine cut into 2 pieces & able to remove 1/2 for the nice cool days.
