Replacement awning on lexington235

Bought a used Lexy235 that had awning removed due to wind damage. Patches for upper mount are completely above awning rail. Dealer said it originally had Dometic 9100. I see no evidence of electric wiring. I want to replace it with manual Dometic 8500 on sale at CW, but Dometic awnings look like they straddle awning rail and I'm afraid it won't clear door. Does anyone have experience with this situation, or any advice on how to proceed?

P.S. caulking will be future subject

On my old class A the manual awning covered the door area and the door would rub on the fabric. I always had the side closet to the door elevated a little higher so the door would miss this also allowed for water runoff.

Thanks for the advice Seadog, I'm concerned with the door opener bracket catching awning fabric when rolled up and door corner rubbing when deployed with any pitch/sag at all.

Don't know the year of your Lexi, but if it's several years old, probably came with the 8500 series. My 2012 came with an 8500 that I lost in a bad wind storm.
The entire awning had to be replaced, and I got another 8500 series.
If you get the proper arms you will not have a problem with clearence of the door.
Check a Dometic web site and you will find that they make numerous arm types, including a curved arm and one with a bend to accomadate a curved side wall. With a curved arm it will clear the door. Never had a problem with ours, either the old one or the new one.
That is the type you will need. Find a dealer or repair facility that knows what their doing, and the proper parts to order.
Pouring rain here last few days, and not expected to let up for another 2, but when it does I will be happy to take a few photos of the replacement I had installed.
I opted to replace with an 8500 with upgrade awning material with a metal wrap. Total with a professional install was $1900, for a 19 foot awning.
Also, if you ever have a choice, go with a manual awning instead of a powered...manual is much sturdier, has much more adjustment, and no motor to fail. Personally, I would never own a powered awning.

I don't dispute what you are saying and used to think the same, but have changed my mind. I like the powered awning provided awning poles are used, I got my attachments and poles from forum members and love them. I have left my awning out in some serious weather with no problems. just another point of view.

Love my power awning and hated the manual, what a pain it is especially when you have to close it in a hurry. I have to make sure my door is closed when I open the awning but once open I’m good to go.

RWP. here's some pic's of the replacement on my Lexi 283ts.
In your photos it appears the original upper attachment points were on the side, below the roof trim.
On mine the upper brackets were attached to the roof, and in fact in the pic's, are the originals. Was able to use them on the new awning. As you can see, it raises the awning and lets it come out at a better angle, thus missing the door.

Thanks for the pix Grumpy. Looks like the upper accessory brackets are the key to mounting in original position. Kinda looks like I will need arms with a bend to them also. I could not find any info on Dometic website about either brackets or arms and CW near me is clueless.

Any other B+ owners have similar issues?

Also have been told its a 1.25 man-hour job by 2 places around Denver but local CW claims its a 2.25 Mhr job.

Any thoughts or comments?

RWP, you need to find a Dometic Product Catalog. In the catalog they picture/list 15 different manual awning arm types/shapes.
Hard to find the "catalog" on line, and most CW people will jusat look up on-line parts without knowing what their looking for.
I picked up a Dometic catalog at Hershey 2 years ago, and info is in there, so I know there must be some knowledgeable service people out there who will eventually help you.

1st piece of advice, stay away from CW. 😊
