Replacement awning suggestions needed
One of the reasons I got such a great negotiated deal on our trailer purchase last year is due to the lack of an awning. The original awning was damaged by a storm, and the original owner never replaced it.
I would like to install a replacement awning myself, which doesn't really seem too difficult considering the mounting holes and brackets are still in place. I'm interested in any suggestions anyone has (who has replaced an awning) on brand, model, and especially purchase location. I've run across some online price tags in the $500 range, but that is WITHOUT the awning arms which I also need. I really like RV awnings, but I'm not sure that $600+ is really a worthwhile out-of-pocket price for a piece of extendable fabric.
Best price for a complete kit with arms so far would be around $700 (freight delivery is expensive, $120-140), for a Carefree Pioneer model that is a hand-crank model. Anyone ever had one with manual operation like that before? I'm only familiar with the classic spring-loaded roller types, and I wonder if I would really miss that feature or not.
Any awning discussion is welcome!
