Replacing LED Awning Lights

Has anyone replaced the factory LED awning lights? I had a few lights go out on my and I have new lights coming under warranty. I was going to replace them myself. Is the LED strip adhesively applied and will it just peel off? Do the new light come with adhesive already applied?

I have same problem - please post when you get the new lites.

Are you getting the replacement LED lites from Dometic? a dealer?

If the are from dometic they come with instructions, tape, etc.

I am going out to my camper to do this tomorrow but I spoke to the technician at my RV place and it sounds pretty simple.

1. Extend awning 10"
2. Remove the trim plate at the end of the LED strip.
3. Clip the wires to the LED strip leaving enough wire to reconnect.
4. Carefully peal the LED strip out of the plastic hosing.
5. Install the new LED strip from front to back.
6 Reconnect wire with heat shrink butt connectors and replace trim.

I got the replacement LED through my dealer under warranty. The part comes from Dometic. I will take some photos during the process. My technician says that he has been doing quite a few of these. Hopefully the redesigned strip will perform better.

Thanks for the info. It makes the replacement effort quick and easy. I took some photos and of the failing LED strip and it looked like the strip was in a channel but from ground level it was hard to tell.

My 2014 Rockwood 8310SS is still under warranty but the LED strip from dometic is garbage. Not only that its a hassle taking the TT into the dealer for such a minor item. So I bought some waterproof LEDs on amazon and will use them to replace the existing strip. The 15 meter LED strip cost about $10 on amazon.

Here are a couple of photo I took removing the LED strip over the weekend. The strip is supposed to be adhesively attached but I not find any adhesive. I have not reinstalled yet. I got the new strip under warranty but I don't understand why FR uses cool white LEDs. It is a little harsh for my taste. I may try to get a warm white strip.Click image for larger version
