Screen Door Tip
Wish I could take credit for this but one of my co-workers suggested it when he knew I was picking up our new trailer with a screen door AND he knew we had three Pug mix "girls". I cut down a thin sheet of plexi-glass purchased from Lowes for $8 and installed it in the inside channels on the lower half of the screen door. It fit perfectly and we weren't at our first campsite 5 minutes when I heard thump, turned around and two of them were standing on their hind legs with their paws on the door (plexi-glass). So this mod saved the screen on the first trip. It's cheap and super simple to do!

Have done this also. Used plexiglass cut to size for all the openings in my screen door. That way I can remove whatever one or ones I want for air or close them all up in bad weather but leave the main door open.

What did you use to cut the plexiglas?

I used a utility knife and just scored the glass a half dozen times. I then used a piece of wood to distribute the pressure and "broke" the plexiglass along the scored line.

Cutting Plexiglas, best and fastest way I've found was to put Masking tape on both sides of the Plexiglas mark your line on the tape and cut with a band saw. The tape give 2 purposes a way to mark your line and it helps to keep the Plexiglas from chipping. When the cut is done peel the tape off and use your fingers to break any burs off that formed during cutting.
I used the pictures posted to keep our Shih Tzu's from ruining the screen and yet allowing air in.

I clamped a level as my straight edge and scored both sides with the sharp corner edge of a wood chisel. Snapped clean and then removed the protective film.

Crusader: On my screen door there are channels on the left and right sides with a "ledge" on the bottom. After I cut the plexiglass to size, I sandpapered the cut edges, put one side in and slightly flexed the panel to slide it in the other side.

I used Lexan and slide it inside the channels and the put a sheet metal screw in each corner to keep it from rattling. Really like being able to leave the door open and not loose the heat or cool. Also like being able to use the homemade push bar to open the latch and not have to push the knob on the panel. Only have to slide the panel to open the main door when it's closed.

Did mine to. To make the top curve, use a large coffee can. I used a Folgers. Just line up tangent to side and top, score lexan and snap and Sand for smoothness. Really easy and inexpensive mod.

Thank you for inspiring us to add the acrylic to our door. The acrylic fits right in the groove and we are adding screening spline to keep the acrylic in place. No drilling, no velcro or tape needed. There's enough spline to remove the acrylic and then re-install as necessary. Thanks again.
Merry Christmas

The only reason I put screws in mine was to eliminate the rattling.
