Security alarms?

We plan to continue storing our TT in our (large) back yard behind a privacy fence, and soon to be metal garage cover.

When it's here I'm paranoid that someone will break into it over night. I do a walk around every morning before leaving for work, even though we have multiple outdoor security cameras on the property.

Our walk through person shared with us that a customer a couple weeks prior had bought a TT like ours, had it three days and someone broke into it and took all the electronics out, TVs, stereo, even the Microwave. They probably did more monetary damage to the windows, etc. than the items they stole were worth.

Have any of you installed a security system on your RV? We're running 50 amp service from DH's shop over to where the RV sits....on a post similar to RV park service posts. Could a security system be installed via that power source? Would wind/weather cause too much motion and set a security system off too often?

I have. I would be happy to show it to you at Goshen if you are coming.

Until you can set up alarms, a few motion sensing lights in the area might help deter thieves and notify you of activity around. Theyre not too expensive and come 110vt and battery powered. I have one at the shed where my atv and john deere mower are parked. Sensor is pointed at equipment, light is aimed at my bedroom window. So far, the flood of light in the wee hours of the morning has alerted me to 2 tom cats and a opossum. But it works. (In the dark) good luck.

Herk,
We aren't going to Goshen this year, but next year is a good possibility!

We're gonna be at Bristol NASCAR! 'bout that time this year.

dcheatwood,

The motion detector set up sounds like a great option, hadn't thought of that!
Thanks! The only challenge for us is that our Master BR is on the front side of the house. Got tons of electricians in the family and friend circle. I'm certain something can be set up.

Ex FIL (RIP) and MIL were raising a grand daughter who would sneak out of the house at night (back door). He rigged a system that vibrated the heck out of their BED when she'd open that door.
