Shattered Window on New Flagstaff Classic Super Lite Trailer

We were driving from Lake Charles, LA and had just stopped past Baton Rouge to fuel up. We discovered our emergency window over our couch had shattered. We know that one large gravel truck passed us, but otherwise, no reason we can think of. It's a 2015 Flagstaff Classic Super Lite and the windows are frameless. This is the emergency window over the love seat, on the slide next to the refrigerator. We've only had this trailer for about 2 or 3 weeks. Any ideas what could have caused it? Are there stress points involved in this type of window? We found out about Douglas Systems, put our insurance in touch with them, and they've ordered the window (3 weeks to make and deliver) which will be shipped to a local mobile window installer.

Thanks for any help or suggestions on our to avoid this happening again, or any comments if anyone else has had the same issue would be appreciated.

Wow, bummer! I'm gonna blame the gravel truck. I've had 2 windshields broken by
them. It always amazes me- they have painted on the tail gate "stay back 150 feet". How do you do that when they are in the left lane passing you???

We have heard folks who apparently didn't have the emergency window latched properly
and it blew open and either bent the hinge or broke the glass. Do watch for that and
we hope it doesn't take 3 weeks for the new glass to arrive!

Most likely the gravel truck. Even if you didn't find a piece of gravel because normally it'll strike, cause a chip, and then the stress concentration will cause a shatter seconds to hours later depending on conditions. Did you happen to check with Forest River to see if they could get a window out faster?

As for those gravel trucks, my sister had a piece of gravel from one go clear through the wall of her previous camper on the highway!
