Storage Compartment Door Latch/Lock Grommet/Gasket

The rubber grommets that line and insulate my storage compartment latches (thumb latch and locks) have deteriorated and I am having a heck of a time finding replacements. They appear to be standard 7/8" locks/latches for a Forest River EVO TT. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hmmmm. I've never seen a rubber grommet for latches on compartments.

Are you talking about the rubber seal around the edge of the compartment door? If not and you actually have rubber grommets around the latches, I'm not going to be much help. Might replace it with Butyl tape but many campers have nothing there, just contact between the latch/lock and the nut on the inside to tighten it.

Here is a picture of what I am talking about. They are the rubber grommets insulating the latches/locks on my external storage compartment doors. I need to replace them as you can see they are deteriorated.

I'm having the same problem, too. But my rig is another brand & painted. If the rubber gasket isn't replaced, it will scar the paint. I hope someone can help us.

I couldn't believe something like that would be too hard to find.

It is...it's like these things don't exist. Every picture of a lock shows a rubber gasket/washer but by themselves they seem to not exist.

I wonder if you took one of the cylinders to the hardware store they could find an o-ring or rubber washer that would work?

A rubber washer will work thats what i did. I've also used a hose washer in the past

Mine isn't that thick, but I do have a box of rubber gaskets at home. I'll just have to find the box & see if any matches. I would think that thick, the lock would be hard to turn. I had that happen when I tightened that lock 6 months ago.

I have no help for the OP but I have the same problem. Maybe they want us to buy a complete new latch instead of selling us a $.05 gasket/washer!
