Trouble with awning.

Put awning out this morning and did not notice rocker switch stayed stuck on. Is there a way to roll it back in????? It's on a 2011 solera

Not sure what the switch format is but its important to get the wires off the contacts before you fool with it. Chances are only the rocker jammed in the housing if pushed too far. Mine is screwed in (Dometic) easy to remove, just carefully mark wires and record before you remove. Then you can play with the switch. Could be it blew a fuse if stuck in one direction too long. Sooner you get it fixed the better. There are electrical schematics of the general set up case you need to retract without the switch. I know Turbof100 posted about remote switches and had schematics.

I hear a clicking noise when I press switch either way. I ended up taking the 2 Allen screws off of awning head and rolled it up. I will mess with it when I get home. I put a couple of big tie wraps to hold awning in closed position for trip home

Burnt motor

Not lucky enough for it to be a burnt fuse. I have 12 volt at the plug on awning. Found a used one on eBay for 60$. New one was almost 300$ with shipping.

Did the stuck switch cause the motor to fail?

Switch

Yes I'm guess the stuck switch did it. Never had problem before. But you would think the fuse would have blown first. Looking at a switch. Hard to be leave new switch is about 60$.

Agree thats what fues are for! Wondering if motor was failing anyway and thats why the switch failed (welded contacts?) If it were me, just overcautious, downgrade the fues one level 20-15 or whatever it is. Maybe save the nest motor or switch. Don't even have to bother whats there, add it in series with a easy location to reach and change if necessary. So far mine is fine, lots of problems with awnings on this forum so I treat it very gingerly. Wind, rain, and operation.

15 amp

It was a 15 amp. I think when motor comes in I'll try it with a 10 amp and see what it does.
