OC, I think he's saying he's getting tired of the "crap" of having to continually retract his awning because it can't handle much wind.
Carrier, OC makes and sells the bracket kit for connecting poles to your awning's arms - he doesn't make support the poles. Turbs makes and sells awning support poles. If you want to make the support poles yourself you can use Wooster Sherlock painter extension poles (find them at Home Depot or Lowes) or make them from PVC electrical conduit. This system is not produced by a commercial manufacturer.

Oh I am getting tired of the CRAP. However before I do anything to the awning I'm going to see if the dealer can get any warranty on it. Whether they do anything or not I'm making a pole setup. After talking with Turbs I have all the parts to make them.
We had a major storm here yesterday and 3 awnings got destroyed as they were left out. I've never seen a 20 some foot awning wrap over a trailer before.

The film was a promotional video sent to dealers. I am under the impression that it would be best to regress back to the old pull down awnings. It seems the mfrs. we're wrong in their thinking. Looks like the owners would rather take all the time to set up and then storm proof (?) their awning rather than take 30 seconds to put it away when the weather is not conducive to having the awning out. After 35 years of replacing awnings from wind and water damage , both securely tied down and otherwise.

Only takes one time to get an awning damaged to learn not to leave down during storm conditions. Just remember even with the awning tie downs mentioned here is no guarantee for stupidity. You get a severe storm something going to go no matter what. Always play it safe. Later RJD

Just curious, I wonder how much liability insurance these guys selling special tie downs to owners carry. They may need plenty the first time a storm blows the awning over the roof of the RV and ruins the roof and AC and then gets the neighbors rig. I'll bet the law suits would sourly come shortly afterward.

Don't see any claims guarantying anything by using the poles.

Are you saying this is something you would do, or are you just talking about the type of people who do this? People who sue for ridiculous reasons such as this ruin things for the majority. Frivolous lawsuits are an American embarrassment.

Just make sure you turn the wind sensor off when you tie the awning! I am in Florida right now in Davenport and we have had some 25 mph gusts and my awning is fine! Turbs and OC have done a great job with their design! Thanks guys!
