unable to lock basement storage

we have a silverback 31RK and our key is unable to lock the basement door. we opened it and was re-arranging some items and when we went to lock the door it doesn't work. we can lock/unlock the other basement door on the opposite side of the 31RK.

there are about 6 varying size screws on the other side of the door which we cannot lock. Is this something where I can remove the screws and see if there is something stuck in the lock? or how would I get another door handle?

thanks in advance.

bill

Can you turn it to lock it when the door isn't closed? If you can then I would think something is in the way in the basement. If you can't then the problem is in the lock itself.

No the key goes in but cannot turn. We can open/close the door, but cannot lock it.

Have tried spraying lock free or a silicone spray into the lock to see if the tumblers will loosen up and turn for you?

If it is the slam type lock you would be better off adding a lock. Cheaper then the slam lock.

I've never added additional locks to any of the 12 RV's we've owned!
When you spray your lock with WD40. spray the key and insert it the lock, move it in and out several times. You should also insert the key slightly to "open" the keyway, then spray liberal amounts of WD into the keyway. If this fails to work you'll either need a new lock or a Locksmith. The issue with a new lock, of course, your same key probably won't work and you'll have an additional key to mess with. Good luck and please let us know how you make out.!!!!

Graphite only in locks. Wd 40 gums up.

Agree with graphite only. several locksmiths have advised WD40 will help collect dirt and gunk while graphite doesn't. Graphite only makes lock parts turn easier not clog up with WD40
