very cheap poor quality awning

I cannot believe how the quality of the awnings have gone down. My almosty new minillite has a Dometic awning which is a A & E. The lifting arm is garbage and the plastic locking clip is not even good at all. They break just by putting them in place and the small plastic disc that keep the lower pull arm is broken and not keeping the arm in place. On my 1984 Terry Taurus I had a A & E awning and the quality was 100% better. Where the quality went for these awning?

I hear you on this....I have what i think is a similar model.....a 2011 unit with the now "outdated" design. One of my locking clips broke...the 2nd time i put the awing out. The part is cheap less than $4.00 but i found they are not going to be made for much longer....bought a bunch JIC. I also bunge the awing arms tight for travel. Not enough confidence in the clips doing their job.

FWIW, I use cable ties around the awning arms to secure.

I used the velcro straps from my awning de-flappers on my old tt.

Do you not have a power awning? Why do you cable tie the arms?

I am very disappointed in mine as well. The quality has defiantly went downhill. The arms are much thinner than what I have had in the past. So far it has seemed to hold up. I too use the straps off my de-flappers for a security measure.

No power awning...camper was ordered with a manual awning as our preference.

I have the power awning, and will always use the velcro straps to secure the arms in the stowed position. Just don't trust them to stay in place while driving.
