What is this???

While RV'ing this weekend with a friend, he asked me about something on his 5th Wheel side... I had no idea what it was but said I would find out.. The item in question is pointed to in the photo. It is attached to the side of his unit directly behind one end of the retracted slide topper awning. Each of his 3 slide topper awnings has one. It appears as though it might be some sort of locking device but we couldn't see how it would work if it was one. Any insight as to what it is?

Hi

My guess its an anti billow attachment. A lock that prevents the toppers and awning going out during travel. Seems like the little square post on top might rotate and latch into the bracket on the camper side. I don't have them but have heard of them. Hope it helps.
I'm sure someone here has a positive answer.

Have had them on all of our slide toppers. It is a lock to prevent unrolling during transport.

I had one installed on my 2014 36 ckts curb side. Did not come from the factory with one.
Any one with a awning on the curb side slide may want to check .
The dealer also had one on their lot that did not have the lock installed,
