What's best for removing sap from an awning?
Sap. A fact of life when camping.
My awning now sounds like I'm peeling duct tape off the roll when I open it ;(
Did a number on my TV, too. I used kerosene, WD40, not too good. Ended up using a combination of WD40 and old plastic credit cards as scrapers to get that crap off the windows and paint. I'm still finding more sap spots three weeks later!
So what will dissolve & remove sap from the vinyl awning? Probably roof, too.
I'd like the roof to be non-stick when I cover it for the winter.

Lots of elbow grease and an oil based product.
If that doesn't work, try Clorox Clean-Up spray as I heard it works.

Goo Gone
Best product I've ever used to get rid of sticky stuff like sap and adhesive residue is widely available Goo Gone. Inexpensive and wonderful. Use it on my hands every year when I cut my Christmas tree. I would try it on a small spot on the awning first to make sure it does not damage the fabric though.

While I was on a google spree, also read what it is NOT safe on: DO NOT USE Goo Gone on silk, leather suede, rubber, faux stainless steel, drywall, unfinished wood surfaces or unsealed stone.

Being from South Georgia we have lots of heat, humidity, swamp, bugs, snakes and pine trees. Everybody has a remedy for everything from colds to pine sap removal. For pine tar it's Turpentine, alcohol (rubbing not drinking kind) and other more exotic blends, all of which I wouldn't think of putting on cars or RV's. I have tried the Turtle wax Bug and Tar Remover and I've used it for the most part and it's ok. The Goo Gone is a good idea, I have heard that it works and I'm in need of doing this today. I'll report back to compare notes.

This past Spring when sap was running I parked too close to a pine tree and my Van was covered with little clear bumps the next morning. I tried Acetone, a little gasoline on a rag, and bug and tar remover. Nothing seemed to faze it. Surprisingly I took out a spray bottle of windex and it took it all off with very little effort. I assume the ammonia in the windex was the agent that worked.

I use good old fashioned camp gas(naphtha). Yes don’t use it close to an open flame.

Methyl Hydrate works very well on vehicle paint - not sure about awning materials.

Eucalyptus oil. Removes all sorts of gooey stuff. The liquid (in a bottle) works best. The spray is next to useless, I assume because of a lower concentration level.

GooGone works great! However, a word of caution. I got some tiny droplets of it on my glasses and it damaged the coating on the lenses making them all blurry and unusable. I had to remove the rest of the coating on the lenses with Armour Etch to make them clear again, but had to get a new pair of glasses since the old ones no longer had anti glare coating.

What's best for removing sap from an awning?
We live in the Jersey Pine Barrens, get lots of sap on cars in Spring and early Fall even if parked under trees for brief period. A professional car wash operator explained that simple rubbing alcohol is the most effective and inexpensive product for sap. We have used it for many years since. Not sure about safe use on vinyl, plastic or rubber.
