Window latch busted

So....just back from the worst trip ever. In an attempt to be the cool Dad I let my son pick two friends to come on a trip with us (all around 10). Against my better judgement I "approved" of one of the kids even though I probably should not have done so.

Well....gut instincts are amazing because 5 minutes in the camper and this kid breaks the clip on the window latch. Now, I know things can be replaced/repaired but this goes deeper. Not only was there no apology offered from the kid, the father had nothing to say about it either...even though he was right there, and to the best of my knowledge never even said anything to his kid about it. About the only thing that I could get in my mind was "What the hell?" How do you NOT step up as a parent and at the very least say something to your child? No offer was made of "I'm really sorry my son did that" or "hey how much do you think that will cost to repair" - just abject ignorance. So that leaves me to come here to vent...especially since the broken window latch was not the only carnage fro this trip (but that's a different story). Needless to say, there is one kid who won't be invited back.

That brings me to this...attached is a picture of the broken piece. You can't see it in the picture, but the bar is also bent. Where could I source this part out? I don't even know what I would call it in a google search. And....who here would forward a bill for the part directly to the kids parent??? Interested to hear your thoughts.

You sir, are a God! Thanks for the quick reply. Green as hell at this owning a camper thing but I am getting better. That is THE exact part I need....ordered it. What did you search for? I searched a number of different ways on Google and didn't get a relevant hit.

Pay for your part send a letter to the parents of said child. This is the price of the part that was broken. Don't have the boy on any other trips.(father of two girls) had the same thing happen once. Sent the bill to the kids parents. They payed for it that young lady wasn't asked back again. Stick with your gut next time. I should of also.

Mine were so hard to unlatch, I had to file a small amount, maybe 1/16" off the edge of the plastic. Was worried about the same happening.
