Question Window tint? - Need advice

Do you use window tint film to reduce heating up your TT/RV during summer day time? if you do, what brand you'd recommend to use and where to get?
I have W&P 28" TT with five windows + door.
Thanks

Any automotive glass tint will work as dark as you want. I think 3M makes the best film.

Thanks Dave,
What would be your word on % of filtering?
What works best for TT? and are you using static cling or adhesive?

We have a Sandpiper with 5 windows in the main slide which provide great views but when the sun is on that side the heat is just too much and we have to pull the shades. I applied a heat control film (Gila Titanium) from Home Depot but it did not have much effect, (a treated window is about the same temp as an untreated one)we still have to lower the shades to keep it cool inside. I also read somewhere about problems with window seals when film is applied and plan to do more research before applying any more.

I used a "gila" film---------

I used a GILA (brand) from Lowe's, Platinum. I have a Rockwood 5TH wheel with many windows. My tint job lacks as a professional but is sufficient. It reduced the heat by at least 50-70%. What a difference it made. I even removed the inside plastic bottom the sky light in the bath. Replaced the thin clear plastic that was super glued to the white frame. Had a tempered gray glass cut to replace the clear plastic. Siliconed the glass to the white frame. Reduced the heat in the bath by 75%. Replaced the glass in both front and rear doors (I have two doors) with the same tempered glass as bath. Before installing the glass in the doors, I also applied the same window film to the inside of the glass. It not only keeps the heat out, but people can not see in through your door but you can see out. The price of the tempered glass was about $14.00 per piece from my local glass company.

When we first purchased our RV, we made a trip to Tampa, FL in May. We almost died from the heat. We were covering the windows up with towels & sheets to keep the heat out. Since the tint was applied, we have not covered any windows. That has been two years ago.

A professional window tinter is your best bet, It will be worth the $$ for it works.

Good luck!

Thanks DAISY BOYKIN,
Looks like you did a great job on reducing heat in TT. Looks like at Amazon it could be few bucks cheaper, but now they charge tax, so it could be almost the same. One thing for sure - you'd save time by getting stuff on-line, and time is the money!
Personally -I wouldn't worry much about doing it yourself. it save's me time and hassle bringing my TT to a tint shop.
I'm in Texas, so during summer April - September, IT IS HOT! all the time!

Bump - I just want to see if anyone did this mod.

We've been playing with insulations for both summer and winter.

I'm thinking about using this reflectix for the windows as an insert (and maybe upgrading to magnetic strips for "sealing".

My idea is to take the pics from the top and combine with the pics of vent covers to create a window cover. It's reflective on both sides, easily removeable and rolls right up for storage.

I've used the Gila Platinum from Lowes, the same as Home Depot has. I was really impressed with the results and the temps in the TT. We had 100 degree weeks last year and shaded camp sites were at a premium. Our trailer was on a gravel site, full sun and normally the A/C doesn't shut off until the evening. Well, we had the A/C shutting off during the day, and I know temps were at least 100. I also had a couple of fans to keep things stirred up, keeping the air moving. Worked well. You can do small windows by yourself, but I would advise having a helper with the big ones. Hardest part was peeling the film apart, and keeping a sharp razor point when trimming. Mines not perfect, but was well worth it.

As you know - some windows are sliding, so part of the inside window overlap the outside pane. How you do that part of window, if you do it at all?
Thanks

Are you talking about the bottom window that slides up, leaving the screen?

My slides side to side. An you're correct - the screen is on the way.
My guess the screen should come out easy?
