2016 Cherokee 304BS Slide out issue

Got to to campsite on Friday and was opening the slide outs and heard a loud cracking sound on the right side rear slide out. Stopped sliding it out and found that a cabinet door had opened during travel and the slide out caught it and ripped it off. Also breaking the cabinet and damaging the slide out. It is a new 2016, only have had it a month. We were able the slide it out all the way and use it, and it slides in fine. Haven't talked to the dealer yet, just wondering if this is covered in the first year warranty, or the extended warranty we bought. There is no way to see if the doors are closed when both rear slide out are in.

My feeling is that they will say this is an issue you caused by not making sure all doors are closed. I'm paranoid about checking to insure cabinet doors and TV are in the stowed position before I move the slides. broke a plastic container by leaving it on the counter and closing the slide. Good luck let us know what they say

I feel for you, but I expect this will fall under the "oh s__t" type of boo boo. As stated, warranty coverage will probably determine that it was your fault and not a defect.
Won't hurt to ask/inquire, but don't get your hopes up.

The issue with it is, when both slide outs are closed in the rear bunk house, you cannot see the far cabinet doors.. I agree that it probably won't be covered, just wanted to see if anyone else as had this problem.

I think it will come down to how the dealer handles/reports it...... It is definitely not something that is covered normally (at fault vs defect). But saying that I damaged a door cabinet handle but was replaced under warranty, granted it wasn't the scale of damage you describe but there might be a sliver of hope. Worse case scenario is you ask and they say no. Good luck and report back with how they take care of you.

Had same problem with different model. Got lucky, didn't hurt door but pushed out bottom of slide. Now slide bottom is wavey. Still seals Good luck

It never hurts to ask. Be nice, ask the dealer to submit photos and see what they say. Depending on parts stock they may just authorize parts under customer satisfaction and the dealer would probably charge labor. If they have to fab cabinets I don't think they would authorize this.

Most dealers have you sign an arbitration clause which costs $700 just to file so playing hardball on a small claim is not a great idea.
