Ah man. Leaving tomorrow

I have read all the posts, and found the manual override, but I want this to work. We just purchased a 2006 F28 Sierra and the slide wouldn't come back in after we finished loading up. I can't find a reset or inline fuse. The trailer has the sheathing on the bottom, and I cut a hole to access the motor for manual cranking, but there's no fuse by the motor, behind the switch, near the battery, or anywhere that I can see. Help. My daughter is going to be heartbroken if we can't get away tomorrow. Thanks for your input.

Look underneath your outside steps for a shaft protruding from frame. If there is then you should have a manual handle to operate.....just a guess when looking at your type of fifth wheel on web...

It was the switch. The retract side spring broke and the switch wouldn't connect all the way. Apparently these switches aren't made anymore, so a little quick rewiring for the new (and hopefully improved) switch and it worked - sort of.

The motor runs fine for a few seconds, and then sounds laboured, then quits. After cooling down it will go through the same cycle.

Sorry, don't know what brand it is. I think it's what is called a rack and pinion style. There's no label anywhere, not even that can be seen on the motor.

Hydraulic slides? Sounds like a worn auto reset fuse maybe. Or a bad contactor near the motor.

Nope. it was the slide motor. It shorted out inside and drew enough juice to cook the switch. The new switch appeared to fix it with a quick test, but as soon as we tried to do a full extension, the breaker kept resetting itself. The switch got real hot again, and that's when I knew.

We stopped at a great RV dealership in Cranbrook, BC, Canada, called Runners RV. Super people there. Just to confirm my suspicions, they threw an ammeter on the line, lo and behold, the 30 amp rated motor was pulling 78 amps. I cannot overstate how super and helpful these people were. if you're in the area, and are in need of a good crew to help you out - Runners RV in Cranbrook, BC.

They didn't have one in stock, but I was able to order one brought in to our local dealer in Alberta, and it was here when we got back from holidays. I put it in, and it appears that it is happy again.

Thanks to everybody for their feedback, and other posts, that helped. And huge thanks to the folks in Cranbrook.
