Boo hoo...won't slide in....

I'm posting in case someone out there can offer help before I find it on a thread.

We're out the door and heading to FL, but our slide won't come in. This is awful and probably the problem, but it has been "out" for a month.

The noise sounds right as it starts to come in, in comes in about 1 inch and stops. We've tried pushing from the outside and unloading everything in the cabinets to take off any weight.

This is a Shamrock 23 ikss hybrid camper.

Am I right in reading that the motor will have to be removed to get the manual crank to work? I guess we shouldn't go with the manual crank. It would be too much??

Thanks in advance!

Update: The other slide moves at a snails pace. It doesn't seem to be the one slide with problems. Our awning motor runs perfectly.

Question: Are you plugged into electric power or are you running off AC battery power?

Reason I ask is I had a simular problem with my slide a few years ago and it was that my batteries were too low to power the slide motor.

Just a suggestion to check...

Good luck, I know you are frustrated.

PS, my awning was working fine at the time.

Odd you are having problems with multiple slides at the same time. I'm with nomad297. Is there a chance you are not plugged in and your battery is low enough not to run the motors correctly?

Yes, we're plugged into our house. We even got the generator out and plugged into it to see if it could supply more umph...

Could the power cords be the problem? I wouldn't think so if the awning goes in and out at normal speed. It's the two slides that are malfunctioning.

Do you have a way to test the battery power? That's where I would start. I would start checking fuses and the converter to see what's happening in those devices. If you aren't handy with electrical stuff then you might consider calling a mobile RV tech?

I'm sure others with much more knowledge about this stuff will chime in soon!

I'd check to make sure the convertor is doing its thing. If you have been plugged in for a long time it might have popped the breaker or even the 12v mini breaker and you might not have realized it.

the awning motor is much smaller than the slides. one or more batteries could be bad. Load test, not just voltage test. Are you pluged in with the trailer cord or a small ga extension cord?

First of all...y'all are soooooo awesome. I was in tears. I was actually looking for hotel rooms, because I was SURE that this wasn't going to be fixed anytime soon.

My knight in shining armor, AKA DH decided to hook the battery to his truck with jumper cables. The 2 slides worked beautifully. He went and bought another battery.

We probably should have unhooked it while it sat this winter.

All is good and we're heading to Gamble Rogers State Park!!! Have you ever had reservations for a spot that you've tried to get for years? This is one of those campgrounds and my dreams of finally camping here were almost shot!

Have a wonderful Sunday!!!

Glad to hear the good news. I use a HF maintainer and float charger to keep the battery charged when hooked to house power

If you've been plugged in to shore power and your battery is bad, just don't be surprised if your converter is bad, too. The converter SHOULD have been keeping the battery charged.

We don’t have your unit but here are a couple of things that have happened to us in our MH. Slide will not come in, sometimes and all we have to do is reset it. The way we were told to reset it is to pull the power wires to the control, wait at least10 Seconds and plug back in. Usually works. Last time it didn’t work so pulled out the manual. The RV had been sitting for at least a month in our level driveway with jacks down. Dug our manual which said jacks should be down, they were. Out of frustration we brought them up intending to put them back down in case we were somehow out of level. Something worked as slides came in after that. So try this IF your batteries are good.

I think the same thing would happen it you just used the electric pig-tail to attach the trailer to the pickup. The trailer would use the juice from the truck to pull the slides in. I’m so glad you found the solution.
