broken hose support under slideout

one of the slideouts there is a rubber piece that I will call a hydraulic hose support (it might have a name but I don't know it). this rubber piece is fastened at each end and it has a couple of hoses and electrical cables threaded through it. it bends when the slide out is moved in. the obvious purpose of this piece is the hold th8e hoses and cables and keep them from being free and getting caught as the slideout is moved in and out. anyway, this rubber piece split in the middle. I tried to repair it by outing some metal mending strips on each side of the split. it then split again just at the edge of the mending strip. does anybody have any ideas as to how I could patch the split in this hose support?

I don't have one of these and don't really know what it looks like.

A pic might jog some bright ideas out of us. There are a lot of clever folks on this forum.

My 340RK has the same part you are talking about. Being they are designed to be very flexible, I am not sure a successful repair could be made that would last.
When I purchased my lightly used 340 back in October, mine was broken. The dealer I bought from was a FR dealer and the replacement (entire length) part was part of their normal parts inventory. It was replaced as part of my deal and the new part works as it should.
Maybe a new part from your local FR dealer would be your best bet.

Good luck.

Had one like that and it broke. Drilled holes near the end and used zip ties to mend it. Let the ties loose enough so that it became the joint. Also had issues with the multi holed spacers moving and breaking. Used zip ties for that also.

A common problem. I used a hinge and just fastened it to each broken section. Worked perfect allowing the cable support to flex.

thank you to all for your replies and ideas!!! I feel better when I learn that what seems like a problem unique to me is more universal and that there are others that have solved the problem. looks like a little trip to the hardware store to get a some hinges and screws and put them across the split. worse case it to get a replacement from etrailer (or others) and put it it. from what I have seen we're looking at max around $30. just wonder what it would cost to take the trailer to a dealer (80 miles one way) to have them fix this? all you guys are wonderful!

Hose support

If you take it in they'll just put the same thing back on. We used a door hinge and zip ties. Never a problem since.

I recently had to have the two supports on my Flagstaff replaced because both broke at nearly the same time just before the warranty expired. Dealer did it in about 35-40 minutes total. This is a common failure issue and the tech who did mine said that most of the time it is due to improper alignment of the ends. If not square to the floor of the slide/house the twist induced when the slide extends/retracts creates excess force on the wide band and... snap!

One of mine broke in the middle, the other at the outboard end (attached to slide). Tech mentioned pre-drilled pilot holes that are made for alignment but whoever at the factory installed mine missed the marks. Something to check if extent on your rig should you choose to replace or repair yourself.

Mine lasted long enough to miss the warranty. It broke were it flexed at the mount and looked problematic so I ended up installing a stainless piano hinge on it and been flawless ever since.
