I've seen a lot of trailers out and about that are in "storeage" with the slideouts in the "out" position. We always store with it in the "in" position. Am I missing something? It doesn't seem logical to me leave the slideouts in the extended position.
At the seasonal lot...everyone leaves them out. I only close mine in the winter storage months...and many don't even do that. Ours don't leak...no matter what Mother Nature has dropped. So far...so good.

We leave ours out all the time. Like I said in another post, the only time ours is in is when it's being towed. As soon as we get home we slide it out.

That's a good question. We leave ours out because it's easier to move around in and we're always in and out of it getting it cleaned up , restocked and ready for the next trip.

If the slide mechanism is manufactured by Lippert Corp. be sure to follow the maintenance instructions listed in their manual. The manual states, "If the slide is extended the cylinder shaft should be sprayed with silicone every five to seven days. If in a salt atmosphere, three to four days is recommended."
Their cylinders are guaranted for five years, but if you don't spray, they won't honor.
