flagstaff slide blowing fuses and shearing bolt.

My slide frequently blows the 30 amp green fuse near the battery. I have also sheared the bolt that is necessary for the slide to work. I thought this was a unique problem until I spoke with someone with the same TT that sheared his bolt twice. He brought it to the factory and they made adjustments to the stops he thinks.
Anyone else had this problem on a 21 fbrs or rockwood twin.
PS Camping world spliced out my 30 amp fuse. Said it shouldn't have been there. That doesn't seem right.

I used to have a 21FBRS and I 'm thinking that the inline fuse was 30 amp? CW's removing the fuse altogether seems pretty risky to me.

You are correct it is a 30 amp. You must be familar with this problem?

I had one episode with a stripped shear pin in the slide mechanism, which the dealer was able to fix by fabricating a new pin. I then discovered the inline fuse, which had not been pointed out to me during the PDI. It never blew but I made sure I had a replacement handy.

We loved our 21FBRS and covered a lot of miles in it.

Warren, I have a 2013 (constructed in 2012) Mini Lite 2109S which is the twin to your 21 FBRS. I'm in my 4th season. The 30 amp fuse has blown twice so I just keep spares handy. I don't know why CW would remove the fuse. It's easy to replace the fuse. The slide bolt broke for the first time this May. Neither have been major problems. Just something to deal with from time to time.

I have a 2015 21 FBRS. Have only used a few times, so far no problems. With this bold sheer you are talking about where is it and what do you do if it does happen while camping? I'm not a mechanical genius.

Check lubrication. That will help. Make sure the motor is stopping at end of travel and not binding which will cause overload and shear pin issues. Fuse could be replaced with an auto resetting circuit breaker

I have a Flagstaff 23FBDS which is now two months old
It blew the 30 AMP fuse (same location as yours) the day before I picked it up from the dealer and three times after that.
Dealer replaced fuse with 30 AMP breaker that auto resets
By the way this was the dining slide
They still don't have a cause, but at least it works OK now

if your shearing pins, youve got an adjustment issue. do you level the coach by pulling onto blocks? i would not level using leveling jacks...just stabilize. the fuse could blow due to a low battery. you could just put a breaker in there.

We had this same problem with the closet slide in our 2013 Rockwood ultralight fiver. My husband fixed it but the pin WAS sheared off. He fabricated a new pin

We are looking at the 21FBRS for next trailer. Any other problems we should be looking for. Is slide problem because of poor install at factory or poor quality materials used in slide.

Other than blowing fuses occasionally the camper is great. We bought ours in January 2014 and have gone 20,000 miles and camped out 150 days. This was a robust test. Lots of bad roads and questionable campsites, but the FRBS took it well.
I would buy another FR product.

I have a 2015 Rockwood 2109S and was worried about this issue. My understanding is that alignment problems prior to 2015 model year were due to the slide motor being "lag screwed" to a chip board mount under the sofa which came loose over time. This was replaced in 2015 (on the 2109S) with a steel angle bracket to which the motor is bolted. Check how your slide motor is mounted and verify that it is secure as it produces considerable torque and if out of alignment will break the attachment to slide drive. Don't bypass fuses; they are there for a reason.

x2. Great trailer and probably better than average construction and customer service. About 14,000 miles on ours. A few minor DIY fixit problems. The slide has been the only major problem so far.
We would buy one again.

Anyone have problem with the wardrobe slide out such as on the 8528IWKS? The wire bracket on mine exploded today. It had to welded together as replacement parts were not available. Repair took five hours!
