Flagstaff wardrobe slide

Just back from our first weekend in our new Fleetwood 8528RLWS. Great weekend, decent weather, good company. Had only one problem that I hope someone on this forum can help with. When we got home the wardrobe slide won't operate. Can't find a fuse any place. All fuses on the inverter panel are okay. Is there a fuse hidden some place else?

Thanks
Ray

According to another member, the WS fuse(30 amp) is located behind the electrical center. I'm guessing he's meaning the Convertor/Power supply.

If your unit is a trailer, check right below the tongue, where the battery power wires go, at the front of the frame underneath the camper, there are green plastic fuse holders- one for each slide out, with 30 amp bayonet style automotive fuses inside of them. That fixed mine! Good Luck, Randy

Mizat is correct for your 5th wheel. Remove ALL power from the camper. No shore power. Disconnect the GROUND wire from your battery (or turn off the battery disconnect switch). Remove the cover on your converter/power supply and then the 4 screws holding it to the cabinet. Slide out the unit to locate the green fuse holder. Replace the fuse with an "Auto Resetting" circuit breaker of the same rating. The new fuse has 3 segments of "leg." You will need all three so DO NOT break them off. Warp the whole thing with electrician's tape. If you do happen to break off the legs, you will nee to trim off the rubber cap and sides of the fuse holder.

Slide the unit

Milzat and herk7769, thank you for your information. I talked to the servive dept. at my dealership and they said the fuse would be near the battery, wrong, the fuses at the battery are for the landing gear and large slide. herk7769 thank you for the detailed instructions. After removing the power supply it was simply finding the right fuse as there are at least three(two 30A and one 3A that I found) in that mess.

Next questions -
What would cause this fuse to blow? The dealer claims holding the close switch too long after the slide is closed.

Where can I find a "Auto Resetting" circuit breaker??

Again a big Thank you

Ray

30 Amp autoreset fuses

AutoZone or Pep Boys has them. Look for them in the automotive fuse aisle.

As to why they blow.

1) Holding the close or open rocker too long after the slide is open or closed. Running the motor till it bogs and overheats trips the breaker.

2) If the slide has been open or closed for a long time the seals stick. The drag on the motor trying to move the stuck slide will also pop the fuse.

Treat the seals with silicone or the correct dry lube you can buy at the RV dealer.

If you open the slide 1/2 way so you can lube the inside seals and the outside seals without moving the slide.
