Help getting an accurate answer on our slide out; from dan
Hello Everyone, my wife Gerda and I really need someone to provide us an accurate answer about our slide. We have a 2015 Forester 2401W MBS RV. We bought it at Norm's RV, Poway, CA. We have traveled cross country from San Diego, CA to the East Coast (Outer Banks and then up to Manassas, VA) and back twice (2015 & 2016). We also put 2 expensive extended warranties on our RV when we bought it (1 for the Forester House & 1 for the MBS Sprinter). Here's the issue. Aug/Sep 2015 while traveling we were told by fellow campers at least once that our full slide should close totally and flush up against the RV. It closes totally at the top, but is about 1 inch from the RV at the bottom (all across the bottom). The service person at Norm's RV said that model doesn't close flush at the bottom of the slide. This past Sep/Oct 2016 we made the cross country journey again. We were once again told by several RV owners that our full slide out should close flush top and bottom and sides. Well, it doesn't. It hasn't since we bought it. When we got back I contacted Norm's RV again. Drove there and they showed me another model like ours and that slide didn't close flush either. However, it didn't answer the question: Is our slide on our model of Forest River Forester supposed to close flush against the RV top, bottom, and sides. If not, I want to know how to get it fixed under warranty or have Forest River fix it. If that's the way it was intentionally designed, I'd really like to know it. v/r, dan hatton

Yes it is. I am having the same problem. Unfortunately I am not sure Forest River will help you out. But it is worth a phone call.
Mine is still under warranty. The head tech person at Forest River thinks my slide may have shifted. I take it to the repair facility next week, because that's when the appointment is scheduled. I just came back from a 9500 mile trip from one coast to the next coast. I have a list of 25 items that need fixing.

Your question was clearly stated but the poll questions are a mystery?

Do you by chance have a Schwintec slide? These are the ones that have the aluminum gears on the sides of the slide body? If so look at the gears for galling and damage. Lippert says the whole slide is supported by the rollers at the wall. Unfortunately when the slide is all the way in there is so much pressure on the lower rail and gear that it wears quickly. This causes it to have to be rebuild or replaced much more frequently. Full wall or kitchen slides seem to be the worst.

Our 2016 Forest River Forester 2401W MBS Slides
I've not posted anything on the site before let alone a reply, but here goes. I've contacted Forest River (for our model) to get some sort of feedback on our slide. In regards to the "poll" I wasn't trying to poll, so I must have done something wrong on my original posting. Back to Forest River. Tried to get help via the customer service phone number, but got a bit tired of waiting for an answer. In answer to one of the helpful postings, I don't what type of slide parts were used or the name of those. Whatever the parts, they seem to be standard on the 2015, 2016, and 2017 models visually anyway. BTW, I'm Dan; My German wife's name is Gerda. I"m retired military (30 years active duty); I'm not transgender -- just combined my our names! v/r, dan

When the slide closes, does it seal properly and not leak?
I've seen slides where the outer slide trim didn't mate with the body trim but the slide still sealed in underneath.
All these folks that keep telling you your slide should seal differently... do they own a unit exactly like yours and if so what did theirs look like? If not, it is just an opinion.

I would simply visit a dealership, locate the exact RV model and view the slide out as a comparison to your RV.

2401W Slide gap, flange separation
Dan and all,
I have a 2016 2401W and have the same gap. I took it to the factory for the warranty work and was told the gap is normal for that slide. I have never had water leak issues.
What I have had, twice now is the forward, lower slide attach flange has pulled away from the RV body/wall. I have sent the warranty rep and the maintenance manager photos and am waiting for a reply. The guys at the service facility in Elkhart were great, but this is a repeat discrepancy. Anyone else have this issue?
