Help with Bracket

Can someone tell me what this bracket is for?
I assume its for the topper, but noting touches it.
The arm on the topper spins right by it.
The bracket has a slot in it as if something else may attach to it.
This is on my new Micro Lite 25KS.

Upload it to your album.
Save, you can rename it if you wish.
Select IMG, right click, select copy and then paste in reply box.

You need to click on the IMG so it goes full size, then right click and select copy.

Sorry, should have been more clear.

Tat little bracket is what the arm sticking up will hit if the topper starts to unroll while traveling. It will keep the topper from unrolling. All the toppers should have one. Thats all.

That makes sense. When I would extend and retract slide the arm would never touch it. I can now see how it would hit bracket if awning would tear.
Thanks for clearing that up.
