Leaving slide out.....out?

We have our 2011 Salem Hemisphere with one 12' living room slide.
It is set up semi-permanently in the mountains of Ruidoso, NM.
The question I have is, how advisable would it be to leave the slide out out over the winter. It would be much more convenient , but then we don't want to do damage to the RV. Many at our campground do leave their slides out.
Any feed back would be appreciated.

My decision would be to bring it in. Seal damage could result leaving it out all the time also the slide mechanism should be operated. Do you have slide toppers? These would help with extended operation with the slide out. I not familiar with the area do you get snow or lots of rain? Closed is less likely to have leaks.

I have left ours out here at home for extended periods and also when the grandkids want to driveway camp. I do park it under cover.
I have been told it doesn't hurt anything and I never experienced anything negative doing so.....but.....I have started keeping the trailer closed up except when loading/unloading and for the grandkids. I just figure why expose the slide out's sides and roof to the elements unnecessarily.

Ours is about 50/50. I have a motor home, the slides typically stay in unless it is parked at the campground. At home I may put them out if we are working in it, or using it as a guest house.

I would be concerned about ice and snow build up if I left them out all winter. Freeze/Thaw cycles can do some amazing damage... like split a schedule 80 steel post.

My dealer told me when I leave my Windjammer in Florida unattended for extended periods I should bring the slides in.
