Smile Missing panel under 2251 slide out

We are new to RVing and started out by purchasing a new 2251 last year. It has been great and we are very happy with it. Great price, nice features and small enough to go most anywhere we want.

When we picked up the unit, the rear bed slide out had a big opening under it beneath the two small slide out drawers. The dealer said they were all like that. It is clearly not original. It isn't finished in any way, bare wood, just a big opening that looks like it is missing a drawer or access panel cover. Since we were so excited to get the unit, we didn't care.

We want to install a drawer in that location that will double as a step for our small dog to be able to get up on the bed, but there is a sticker on the side of the bed saying it is not a storage area.

The bed platform is hinged and raising it allows access to the charger, fusebox and water tank on one half, but the other half is empty space and seems to be well suited to a drawer for storage.

Anyway my question for those in the know is; what should be in that space?

Not familiar with this model, but could this open space be there to serve as a breathing room area for the charger and electrical panel? Just thinking out loud.

The addition of a couple of photos may help others see what your taking about.

Problem with many designs in the RV industry is that things don't make sense to the publics eye or thought process. Of course many times manufactures designs don't make sense period....LOL

Kind of like this?

It is boxed in but open on our 2250 Sunseeker. We found a couple of containers that would fit pretty well for things like coats and extra shoes.

If yours is different, post a pic. We'd like to see what you have.
