No trailer for the weekend

We sent our Trailer to the service center for maintenance and a wash to be ready for this coming weekend. Then we get a call yesterday that they were about to wash it and they could not get the main slide out due to the motor was burnt out. Then we called the camp resort "Splash Magic" in Northumberland PA and they said we forfeit our full deposit for the week end. All 157 dollars. We will be in the area for a family reunion any way so they said we have full access of the park we will just have to stay at my parent’s small crowded house. The brighter side the camper was already in the shop where we bought the warranty for it and not at the camp ground.

Yeah not the end of the world to do it manually I certainly would not give up a camping trip over it. As stated maybe an extra 20 mins of total work over the trip.

OK and how would I get it out manually? Can I use a power drill? Is there a tool that I need to do it?

You should have a crank which also doubles as your stabilizer jacks crank.

The dealer can show you how.
They should have showed you how to do this upon delivery incase of failure.

our slide crank is different than the stabs crank.

as Turbs said, your dealer should have shown you this during the PDI.

Actually I believe my flagstaff took the same crank between the jacks and slide out.
My sabre has two cranks one for slide outs and one for 5th wheel stabs.

Our friend is using a power drill to use his slide out until the gear can be found.

Yes we went camping tuns out only the rear slide was not working. The kids were still able to sleep in there. The motor is in the back under the slide. The shop put it back together for me to take camping.

Good to hear!

How many people go through all the systems before any trip to make sure everything is working properly. I don`t know how many times I`ve seen people messing around with things because they are not working. do people just throw their stuff in the trailer, hitch up and head out?

note this is not directed towards the OP!

Sounds like OP was lucky enough to catch the issue before launch so at least it was not a panic upon arrival at the CG.

I believe most of us go through many of the systems just getting ready to go. I can't pack the trailer with the slide in - only my kids are skinny enough to get into the bathroom and I believe it is not advisable to walk on the slider floor when it is in.

That said, there is always going to be something goes egg shaped on a trip - we stayed at a Hyatt last weekend (no CG convenient enough to our destination) and had to rush back to the hotel on Saturday to evacuate our pooches because there was a gas leak. The rest of the trip was stellar so just gotta take the bad with the good.

I wonder, has anyone ever used the tent and air mattress when the RV is suddenly out of service? I have that as a plan rather than lose the deposit.
