I'm happy you got this resolved and hope you'll be happy with the factory's repair work. I think they were more than fair if the repair is only going to cost $1,000 plus transportation back to the factory. When I had a delam issue with my Roo, it cost me that much to replace both bed doors (labor cost only) so I'm sure FR's cost for your total repair is many times more than that.

If you get any info on what exactly caused the failure, please post that so other rear slide owners can check their trailers for signs.

I would like to post a seperate message of greatitude to this forum especially Herk7769 for ALL your help in steering me in the right direction from day one. I have never been on any forum and really didnt know where to go once I posted the orignial post and I have learned alot. I would like to thank anyone that helped me back from the first post and everyone else who encouraged me too . I have nothing but positive things to say about this forum and the way its run. You were helpful, understanding, patient and very knowlegeable to say the least. I am looking forward to many years of camping in the future and I feel you have all helped me in the process.....I would also like to thank Forest River for working WITH me and not against me in this process also! First! Thank Everyone who went Above and Beyond to Help! Now Forest River,Thank You,it was your Call and $$$ for the Final Outcome! To the OP,show us ANY other RV Mfg. who would Rebuild Both Ends of a 2009 unit that was bought used and only ask 1000.00$ to Fix! Youroo!!

Very glad to hear your trailer is being repaired. I know this was scary, frustrating and really shouldn't have happened but the cost seems very reasonable all things considered. As much as I hate that this happened it has brought a lot of useful information out about how these units are made and issues to watch out for. Obviously water is no friend to the RV under any circumstances but with these heavy rear bedrooms it's critical that no leaks occur to the rear wall. Ours stays under a metal carport when not used with the bedroom closed which helps but when we do travel and use it I'm much more conscious now of the caulking and seals around the wall seams and the bedroom opening in the wall. The design / manufacturing process of these is still questionable based on some the posts I've seen in this thread and through conversations with local RV dealers but the biggest concern seems to be structural issues from water leaking in to the rear wall. The aluminum frame alone is simply not strong enough to support the slide if the wood framing around it becomes compromised. Thanks again for sharing this event and raising awareness of the issues.

So happy that I came across this thread! We have a 2014 25rs and now I know what to look for to make sure that this doesn't happen to us. We are thinking of making some supports for ours like the old manual rear slides have just to lessen the weight put on the frame.

Not a good idea. If the trailer settles at all, it could put the slide out of alignment.

The support poles would connect to the rear bumper such as on a popup.

In my 12 years of being on many RV forums, this case is the FIRST time I've read of any such thing happening on a slideout.
Keep in mind that thousands of RVs have slideouts, that nothing like has ever happened.

kant160, can you provide some detail on what caused the slide to fall out? Other Rear Slide owners would like to hear what they should look for even though this is a very rare thing.

It's just my personal preference. I just don't like slideouts, I never have. I am not alone in my feelings about slideouts, I know many people who have hated slideouts since they first appeared. If you like slideouts that's fine, but I do not.
