Replace slide 'sliders' with rollers?

My Cherokee Grey Wolf has a 12' driver's side slide, with dinette and couch. I am putting a new floor in it because I had water intrusion on the bottom rear side of the slide. I am replacing the Darco too (if I can find it) but my front end Darco is ripped where it rides on the teflon/hard plastic slider.

It seems this would be much better if it was a roller and not a hard plastic slider. I want to add a strip of metal or something to the underside of the slide floor where it slides here, but even in addition to that, I feel rollers would work far better.

Anyone done this or think it would be OK? I am not totally removing my slide so any work is assumed to be done with the slide in place (in or out, and could be lifted slightly).

THANK YOU
