running Slides with all jacks Up?
i'm going to assume it's best to run the slides in or out, when all my 5th wheel jacks are down [RV stable, and level]
but,
how bad is it to just occasionally run them IN after i'm hitched up to the truck?
sometimes, i may want to do the hitch-up the night before, and sleep, and do the slides etc, the next morning...

As long as your unit is level the slides should not be adversely affected. I frequently have some slope differential with my TV which can put the slide at an angle or my space isn't long enough;
55 feet combined.

that's just it, the 5th wheel may not be very level, when i put the slides in, in the morning

Your manual should tell you. Most will say jacks, then slides. OTOH, do you think dealerships do the same?

If you are reasonably level there should not be any problems.

...I don't think your slides really care.
manufacturers have many warnings, labels, and advice stickers all over RVs, for various safety and common sense reasons, but mostly to help keep them from suffering from frivolous lawsuits... but most of the mechanics of RVs don't really care one way or the other, as far as 'will it hurt it', etc.
If you're on a hard slope, then certainly common sense says not to run out a slide on 'that' side, but being off 'exact' level is no issue, or whether the 'feet' are down or not.

I sometimes remain connected and lower the front landing gear just till they touch the ground, then let slides out. But only if I am at least close to level. It is hard for a slide to retract (in) if it has to go way uphill.

I typically don't put the slides out all the way until I am unhitched, however, I almost always never put them back in until I am all hitched up and almost ready to roll...usually the very last thing I do before we leave!
We travel with three cats (large Mainecoones) and after around 300 miles or about four hours they need to hit the cat pan, which is in the very back corner of my 5'ver and requires at least one slide to be brought out a few inches due to the kitchen island being in the way with slides in.

Often leave tt attached to tv overnight when traveling on long trip. I do use jack to pick up front of tt a small bit for some stability. Also lower rear stab jacks for same reason. Then deploy slides. Reverse order to get on the road. Process takes less than 10 minutes, make tt a little more stable.

At the dealership that I worked at for a couple of seasons, the tractor operator moved units all the time with the slides out. I cringed a little when I saw that. But I will put my slide out a little to get by the dinette occasionally when the unit isn't level. No problems yet.

We just went through this on another forum. After comparing three Class A's, we found that Newmar and one other OEM said move the slides with the jacks up and our FR Berkshire manual says do it with the jacks down. Looks like it really doesn't matter although you definitely don't want to do it when not close to level. Leaving VA yesterday, I had to pull onto a slanted surface to get my toad hooked up. A situation arose that required me to extend and retract the bedroom slide. Despite having the stronger shaft/screw system, it really struggled to bring it it.

Yup! And I wonder how many of their customers subsequently had issues with their slides.
