Rv slide motor
When moving slide the motor doesn’t stop when operation is complete. Has anyone else had this issue?

Depending on the slide system. With a Schwintek, you actually want to hold it for an extra 5-10 seconds while the motors synchronize.
Most other systems, yeah- you want to let up on the switch right away.

If you're thinking it has limit switches to stop it at the End of travel, it doesn't. You have to release the switch for it to stop.

We don’t have to hold the switch. Just press and release. Not sure what the name of it is. Never had to hold down before. It automatically stops, well usually.

Well, it would help if you posted year, make and model of RV or the make of slideout.
You don't have it listed in your profile.
Both my trailers slideouts required holding the switch down, to move it out or in.
One was a Lippert slide and the other is a Schwintek.

We have a 2004 Scottsdale by Newmar. Not sure what brand of slide. Until yesterday we would press switch and it woul slide out or in then stop automatically. Now it will slide in or out, but the motor will keep going. We have to press switch again to make the motor stop once it is in place. We thought it might have a limit but can’t find anything to support that. I appreciate everyone replying!

There is a loud pop when it is in place, otherwise no new or abnormal sounds.

Could the switch be sticking or worn out?

Well, since your RV is not a Forest River product and there are probably, at best, only a handful of members that would have owned a Newmar Motorhome, you're going to have to provide more info and pics. Like make of slideout.
One thing we can eliminate, since you have 2004, it's not a Schwintek. slideout.

Newmar (and some other motorhomes) handle their slideouts differently. They have limit switches and use seal in circuits on the relays to stop the slide when it's either all the way in or all the way out.
You likely have a limit switch that has either moved out of adjustment of has broken.
