Schwintek Slide Problem

On a routine check of my RV, the slide won't go out. It is the Schwintek type slide. I have already read through all the manual & bulletins and watched their youtube videos. I have tried everything they suggested and nothing is working.

When I press the button, I hear both motors whine for a few seconds then stop, so I know the motors are getting power. The controller is giving me a code 8 & 9. If the controller were not getting a signal then the motors should not do anything (code8). If there were a short in the wiring, the fuse would blow and the motor would not do anything (code9).

I bypassed the limit switch just to get things moving and nothing happens. I have released the motor brakes and the slide will not budge. The slide is in the closed position and I can't get at the motors.

Any suggestions?

Is there a manual over ride on those so you can crank them out by hand?

Believe you can drop both motors from the engagement position thus freeing the tracks and therefore the slides will move. Motors are dropped from outside by peeling back the wiper seals. This procedure covered by both the manuals and on line. Suggest you contact someone with training to help troubleshoot.

No manual crank for Schwintek slides. However, they have an electronic manual override. You have to find your controller, then watch this video to see how to use the override feature. This video also shows you how to lift motors up to disengage from rack gear so you can slide room in if it is stuck in out position.

Lippert University on youtube and lci1.com have a lot of good info for the various Lippert made components and assemblies on your RV.

On our Rockwood the motor can be accessed from the top and they provided a flexible bit driver for a drill that can manually turn the motor & thus the slide in and out. I know this doesn't solve the motor issue but if it had to moved that is how you can do it.

If you haven't resolved your problem yet, try calling Lippert Components Customer Support at 574-537-8900...they should be able to help you troubleshoot.

Gave up and brought to the dealer. He doesn't seam to be having any luck getting to the motors.

DW and i are frustrated with this RV. It has been nothing but trouble since we picked it up. I've had it for two years and I think it spent more time at the dealer for repairs than it did home.

Pulled to trigger on a Passport today.

That sucks! Had to cost big ones to trade just cause of a secret operation. Gotta be a way. Good luck with new one.

when we went to take our unit home after we bought it (brand new) we could not get the slide in, dealer replaced the controller and then the motors went inop, they install higher amp motors then what was installed at the factory, works good now...

Does any of video apply to a 2007 32 ft. Forrest River Sandpiper ? OR Does anyone have a suggestion on my living room or dining won't slide in ? The 2 back rooms slid in like they should have but the third room won't do anything. I have been living in the trailer for 4-5 years now so all the slide outs have been out that long. I also need a sleeper sofa and the 2 benches at the dinning table ? The problem is gone and so are her dogs so now I have to replace these items.

Bedroom Slideout

Bederoom slide is not performing well, first time with this problem, two year old coach. When running the slide out, one side seems to go out slower than the other. On retracting, again one side seems slower than rhe other.
Check the controller, no codes and both motors seem to be running when selected. Will try lubricating the motor where the gear makes contact with the tract....
anyone else had this issue???

Any chance to get current draws of each motor in operation? That will help weed out excess load/drag compared to motor operation. I'd keep the tracks lightly lubricated full length.

Lippert customer service

Spoke with Lippert Customer Service yesterday, explained to them our problem with our bedroom slide not coming evenly. We were given instructions on how to perform a procedure to get the two slide motors back in sync with one another. We plan to do that this morning as we do not have any fault lights on the control box. Lippert was good at responding to our problem, only hope it works as instructed.

ps: we are in Wall, SD, moving on to Custer, SD later today...
